In a time of abundant information and a severe fight for our attention, podcast creators have managed to capture our attention for hours. The universe created in the audio based narratives has an appeal and an authenticity matched by few, if any, media. To discuss the state of podcasts and how we got to here, we have in collaboration with Third Ear assembled a strong lineup of experienced individuals, who have all in their personal and professional way contributed to the auditive media scene. The panel discussion is titled Podcast: Telling True Stories In Sound.

The panel consists of:

Radio producer, sound designer and journalist Martin Johnson. In 2008 he won the international prestigious Prix Italia for his documentary "My father takes a vacation". His documentaries have been broadcasted in many countries across Europe. In 2013 the documentary "Echo Chamber" co-produced with Ciaran Cassidy won a special commendation for Europe’s best investigating radio documentary at Prix Europa.

Senior producer at Falling Tree Productions, Eleanor McDowall. She is the series producer on BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts, nominated for Best Speech Programme at the 2014 Radio Academy Awards where the show was praised for ‘demonstrating the power of spoken word radio’. Her radio documentaries include subjects varying from Roller Derby to the political undertones of Dr. Seuss famous children stories.

To facilitate the panel discussion we have Tim Hinman, the owner, producer and consultant of the audio production company Third Ear, Tim Hinman. He has worked with producing and designing sound for DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, as well as freelance work for post production sound for film and TV

The panel took place during F:ACT CONFERENCE - New Media, New Realities on November 13, 2015 as a part of CPH:DOX. Read more: http://cphdox.dk/en/more-than-films/fact-conference/
